IPL 2020 Final || MI VS DC
Who will win this IPL 2020 ? 🤑
Defending champions Mumbai Indians will take on Delhi Capitals on 10 November at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium. They aim to win record-extending the fifth IPL title this year as earlier they won the IPL trophy in 2013, 2015, 2017 and 2019.
Boult suffered a groin injury in Qualifier 1 vs DC
Trent Boult gave MI a dream start to the IPL 2020 Qualifier 1 by bagging two wickets in only his first over of the innings. After troubling DC batters extensively in his first two overs, the Kiwi pacer didn’t return to bowl having suffered a groin injury, sending chills down the spine of Mumbai supporters.
In his first spell, Boult ended with figures of 2-1-9-2 and he was expected to partner Jasprit Bumrah with the ball in the death overs too but he had to leave the ground in the 14th over because of the injury.
While absence didn’t hurt Mumbai who went on to win the match by 57 runs and book a spot in the IPL final, it did make people question if the left-armer would be fit for the final.
How important is Boult for MI?
Boult has been MI’s go-to bowler in the powerplays. While Jasprit Bumrah has bagged a lot of his wickets in the death overs, the New Zealand international has hardly missed when it comes to deceiving batters in the first 6 overs.
Also, Boult is currently the third-highest wicket-taker in IPL 2020 with 22 wickets to his name.
Interestingly, Bumrah-Boult duo is the most lethal in IPL 2020, together both the bowlers have accounted for 49 wickets, which is the highest by any pair in the tournament.
Rohit heaps praise on Boult
Rohit said that Boult is the best in the business with the new ball and that the swing bowler hasn’t disappointed anyone in the Mumbai team.
“Yeah, we always wanted somebody who can bowl with the new ball and get those wickets for us in the powerplay.
“And we looked across the world and obviously Trent, it’s a no brainer that he is the best bowler with the new ball, when it comes to swinging the ball back into the batsman and to a left-hander, taking the ball away from them, he is the best in the business.”
“We always wanted him (Boult) in the squad and luckily for us we got him traded from Delhi.
“He has not disappointed anyone of us, he has just come and done the job for us with the new ball and also in the middle, he has bowled pretty well in the middle and also at the back end few times, he has bowled pretty well.
“So he is a great asset to have in the squad and I just hope he can do it one more time for us,” Rohit said.
Mumbai Indians will now take on Delhi Capitals in the IPL 2020 final as the Shreyas-Iyer led team defeated Sunrisers Hyderabad by 17 runs in the Qualifier 2 on Sunday.
